This place is a heavenly oasis of quality organic vegan food in an area where basically no healthy food spots exist. The quality of the food was on par if not better than my usual NYC standards, and super affordable for the insane amount of food they give you per dish. Seriously gourmet vegan stuff. Super friendly and sociable staff, and super accommodating with dietary restrictions/changes. Their desserts are to die for. Still hard to believe this place was actually real, could have very well been a dream. I've been to their other restaurant The Cacao Tree a few years back which is also at a very high level of organic/vegan/health food-ness. Highly, highly recommended, will be coming back next time I'm in the area. Thanks for basically the only good food I've had all week.

No need to be a vegetarian to come here. But if you are, this is probably the only place in the area that will satisfy your taste buds. However, it is relatively pricey for what it is. Pros: Lentil Sloppy Joes Zucchini Noodles Cons: Vegan Mac n Cheese. I was hoping this was a win win for me due to my lactose n tolerant, but it is just not close to the real deal. So I rather pass on this adventure!

Not price friendly, but it is healthy, so decided to try anyway. Tried Lentil soup which was over $5 and Thai wrap which was $9. I would say quite pricey for just vegetables in my opinions. This is a great place for vegans, order soup and you will be full! The lady tries to upsell deserts without knowing the price I got this "bar" which was $6.50. It was just ok, and honestly way too much for a peace of bar that I could have made at home. Skip the desert and save your $7 lol The lady should tell prices and not push desert so much.. I'd rather have soup 2x than desert

THAI PASTA SALAD is all that needs to be said. This place was amazing, this was my first visit and will be back ASAP.

I'm not sure how it has taken me so long to review this place. I go once or twice a week, every week, and have for nearly a year. The food is a great mixture of raw and cooked, vegan and vegetarian, all fresh fare. I literally have never had something from their menu that I didn't enjoy. Some of the highlights are the farmhand salad, the ABLT, and the BBQ wrap (and I don't even like BBQ, generally). And the soups! They change all the time and I've tried literally a dozen or more. They're all a tasty way to start the meal. To makes things even better they have a huge selection of vegan desserts that are out of this world. Save room. Don't say I didn't warn you. Bring a friend and try a couple different desserts. You won't regret it. Lastly, their staff is passionate, knowledgeable and all kinds of friendly. Never been there before? They'll offer suggestions and explanations. Been there before? They'll treat you like an old friend. Top notch all around.

Big fan of the BBQ Tempeh wrap. The Clean Plate is a terrific place for people that want high quality plant-based meals. Everything is fresh and tasty! I've even brought non-vegan guests and they loved the food (and especially the desserts). I wish their smoothies were a bit cheaper, but they are well-worth it. I look forward to my next visit.

Best oatmeal chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. Perfect amount of salt to balance out the sweetness of the chocolate and slightly crumbly without being dry. Might fall apart if dipped in milk, but we didn't have time for that experiment. We ordered two wraps for the road and some chocolates, because...vegan. The thai wrap had kind of a funny taste (heavy sauce and maybe daiya cheese(?), which was unnecessary), but overall the food was good and fresh and we are glad we found this spot and will be back.

Absolutely brilliant. Menu has a tremendous variety and we tried quesadilla the thai zucchini pasta and grecian wrap. All were v good, and as might be import for some people v filling too. Didn't try the desserts but seemed to have good options there looked pretty appetizing. A little pricey perhaps for some, but it is good for the tastebuds and for the heart. Recommended!

The Clean Plate is a welcome lunch time spot off the busy street of chain after chain restaurant. By now, I've tried most of the menu The ABLT is the way to go. The fake bacon made of shiitake mushrooms is the best meat substitute I have ever tasted. The garlic aioli spread complemented the sandwich very well and stayed in my mouth for several hours. The vegan mac and cheese is a good, not great attempt at a non dairy pasta alternative. At $12 a bowl, I was expecting more wow. The vegan reuben also belongs into the good, not great category. The sandwich needs to decide if it is served hot or cold. It can't be both. At $15 without a drink or dessert, I find the price too much for lunch. I would love to try the desserts from Cacao Tree Cafe, but my wallet says no.

So good. Went with my girlfriends for dinner and we all enjoyed it! I had the roasted cauliflower and blue potato soup with a garden salad. Soup was great! Not a cream soup. Nice broth soup with lots of chunks of veggies. The salad was not ice berg which was great. Nice spring mix and butter lettuce and the best honey mustard dressing I've ever had! Friends had the black bean toastada special and said it had nice spice and was very good. Service was very welcoming and explained everything on the menu with passion, and answered any and all questions without hesitation!

This restaurant is, without a doubt, the best place to eat in macomb county. Not only is their food delicious, the company itself is amazing. The servers are extremely knowledgeable of their food and cater to your diets whether you're a vegetarian, vegan, Celtic, or anything else. They'll make sure you're cared for. The desserts are to die for as well. If I wasn't in town just to visit, I'd eat here 3 times a day.

This is the first time I have ever given 5 stars!! This is a wonderful vegetarian establishment. I ate the kale soup and the spinach salad with walnuts. I also enjoyed a cup of locally roasted coffee. My friend had the black bean burger and the smoothie. My other friend had the tempeh burger. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal, atmosphere and service. We are visiting for another week or so, and will definitely be back to visit this establishment again. One friend ordered the brownie and we l had a taste of it...very delicious!! The manager said this was the only vegetarian restaurant in the area, it is definitely worth your visit. The cost was fare for the effort that they put into the food. Not McDonald's prices, but if you want to eat cheap food that will kill you, go ahead... If you want food that is good and good for you, stop in here and enjoy yourself..

One of my fave places to eat. Delicious vegan and vegetarian food. Very clean place, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I've always had a great experience here. So glad it's in my neighborhood but even if it's a drive for you it will be worth it:)

I'm a fan. Passed The Clean Plate on the way to get my hair done. Decided to come here after for a late lunch. I'm glad I did. Got the Mediterranean salad with the vinaigrette dressing. The salad was large for $9 and had white beans, yellow beets, purple onions, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, and a scoop of creamy goat cheese on top of a huge bed of spinach leaves. The service was fast and friendly. I enjoyed my lunch and would come back to try their sandwich wraps and homemade desserts as they looked pretty yummy!

It was ok. Not being a vegetarian I thought I would give it a try. Ordered a burrito and it just wasnt the same. Needed the ground beef, cheese and sour cream that makes a burrito. I guess if youre into this kind of stuff its ok, but I didnt climb to the top of the food chain to eat kale.

I really enjoyed this place. It is nice to finally see a restaurant of this sort on this side of town. I ordered the southwest salad and I thought it was really good. Although the prices are a little steep it is well worth it for a quick healthy meal on the go.

Everything was perfect from start to finish... Friendliest greeting and service, and a nice bright dining room... I had the soup of the day, followed by a huge fresh salad, I tried two dressings and they were both spectacular .. Then I had the BBQ tempeh sandwich... I intended to take half home, but I couldn't stop eating. :-x I was in NY a couple wks ago, and it's always vegan food paradise everywhere, and quite honestly this place was on par with everywhere I went there. I went home with some vegan coffee chocolates too and they are unbelievable. My phone died while I was still in the restaurant 'cuz I was facebooking and telling everyone how good everything was. *_* ... I can't waittttt to go back! :-D

I am not a vegetarian or vegan but I love this place! This place was recommended to me by a friend and boy am I glad I decided to try it out! This is a go to place when I am grabbing lunch with my co-workers. I have not tried anything I did not like. I highly recommend the A.B.L.T. The shiitakie mushrooms on the sandwich are AWESOME! For desert? Try any dessert you cannot go wrong! The chocolates are all homemade and most are vegan. The whole staff is very knowledgable on the menu. Very time I come here I am greeted right away and everyone always has a smile on their face! The owner is amazing! She is very passionate about what she does and is more than happy to explain how your food is prepared. I recommend this place to anyone looking for some clean eating with great taste! Trust me this place will not disappoint!

I must start out with full disclosure, I am no doubt a carnivore ,love meat, gravitate to meat & consider a 20 ounce bone in ribeye a good start. With that being said. The consistent yelp love encouraged me to try this place. Went in on Monday 7-7-14 at 7:PM, grabbed a menu, scanned it & the 1st several yelp reviews on my droid. Brandon "BURST" onto the scene, "welcome to Clean Plates' is this your first visit? Yes..we want to choose wisely & not have buyers remorse. He told us the vision-passion- everything cooked to order, mostly local & organic. With multiple vegan-gluten free options. We each chose a soup, the bride gravitates to quinoa, so the quinoa -vegetable soup was the perfect selection ,which was a generous bowl for $3.25 which included a slice of Avalon organic bread 5 stars I ordered the sweet potato & lentil soup, also $3.25 & I tried the Avalon gluten free bread . 5 stars We shared /split the Greek wrap , on presentation alone 5 stars! Taste 6 Stars! It came with the choice of 3 various wraps, I chose an Ezekiel Lavish Wrap Artichoke hearts,Arugula grilled red onions, sweet peppers, feta cheese & a light yet flavorful Greek Dressing WOW! I told the bride, I could switch to vegan in a New York Minute, if it was all this good! Also noteworthy was a regular customer who came in & ordered 6 pieces of the peanut butter desert , so good it was obviously worth the $5 a slice. Brandon has & displays an actual passion & excitement for his product, it was a joy to see a business owner that engaged & positive. I forgot to try the Kumbacha Tea, next visit. NOTE: the signage is not as bold or large as one would hope, you'll pass it your first time buy it's about 200 yards north of Sonic. If you hit Lakeside blvd. North, you've gone too far.

FINALLY...a vegan/vegetarian restaurant on the East Side!! I love love love this place. I have been here a few times, and have not been disappointed once. The staff is super friendly and the food is outstanding. Even my carnivorous husband and picky 8-yr old son love the fresh, flavorful offerings. We will certainly be regulars. A must try: Thai Pasta Salad (raw zucchini = noodles). I could eat it every day. I think I would drink the Thai Peanut Sauce that's on the salad if no one was around :) Oh, and the raw avocado soup...YUM. I only wish they offered more variety in desserts. What I have tried was good, but most of the desserts are raw, and it would be nice to have a big slice of cake or a warm cookie a la (vegan) mode with a good cup of coffee. This doesn't change my opinion or rating, just a thought. If you're looking for a delicious, healthy meal and don't want to drive to Royal Oak or Ann Arbor, give this place a try. I'm sure you'll love it as much as we do!!!

Sorely needed healthy food option on this side of town. You can't go wrong with any of the items. And the best part of all is how the woman (manager? owner?) behind the cashier is knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. She loves to tell you how they make their food, like the fact that it takes hours and hours to make the amazing shiitake bacon. They offer sandwiches, burgers, salads and specials. I've had the tostada special, which they should think about bringing on permanently. And also the A.B.L.T. I have to say though that the portion size was a bit small because I went home and had to have a snack. The Avalon bread is topped with avocado the aforementioned "bacon," lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli. I keep wanting the avocado pudding that people rave about but they've ran out both times! I've also had the vegan cupcakes and the made-from-scratch chocolate bits. Both run in the $4 range but it's worth it. They also have ready made salads for around $5. The kale salad is a must-have. They do need to work on the signage though. It was a bit difficult to find the first time because of how easy it is to miss the banner, rather than the giant signs that storefronts usually have.

Finallyyyyyyy!! A restaurant on the east side that has healthy food! I'm eating almost all vegetarian so I love that this place is vegetarian and vegan. So many options. I am so excited this is right by me and and I'm pretty sure that this is going to be my new go to place. I had the A.B.L.T and it was AWESOME! My friend had the bean burrito which she also really liked! The best part is that there was so much on the menu that looks so good and I want to try and I will for sure get the A.B.L.T again.

Mom and I went for lunch. We both ordered soup Mushroom and Cream of Broccoli. We decided the broccoli was better....there weren't very many mushrooms in the mushroom soup, but lots of celery and carrots. We split a ABLT which came with coleslaw. This was delish! We both enjoyed this sandwich very much. I'd love to come back and try some of the other items. The open faced sandwiches sound wonderful!

Love this place! I am a huge fan of their vegan Mac and all of their creamy soups! The ABLT is super good paired with a soup as well. The staff here is super friendly and I always feel so taken care of as soon as I walk in the door. All of their desserts are amazing, especially the raw vegan lemon-lime cheesecake. I've been here tons of times- it's conveniently located right by Macomb Community College, making it a perfect lunch spot between classes.

The staff here is outstanding. So nice and they make it seem like it's more then just a job to them. They seem like they're good people in real life and not just so they get repeat customers. Like they actually care. As someone with crohns I have to be very careful about what I eat. I can't eat out many places when I'm in a flare up so I'm very happy a place like this is nearby. Plus everything I have tried from here has not only been healthy, but also tastes good.

  • Anne L.

The creamy kale and crimini mushroom soups were awesome and I don't even like kale. The ABLT is a definite must have. And their cupcakes are amazing! If you have serious foodies coming from out of town, definitely take them here for lunch-they will not be disappointed! :)

What a little gem! The ambiance is simple and welcoming, and all of the people here are a hoot. I walked in and was immediately greeted and asked if I'd been in before. Since I hadn't they gave me a quick tour of the menu and made a few suggestions. I ended up getting the ABLT which is "Avalon bread topped with avocado, shiitake mushroom "bacon", lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli. Served with cole slaw and McClure's pickle". I was a little skeptical that I might miss the bacon, but the shiitakes were crispy, meaty, and flavorful, and in combination with the rest of the fresh flavorful ingredients didn't leave me wanting. The pickle was tasty and crispy, and the cole slaw was light on sauce (which I love), and while it needed some pepper, was tasty. I also had a kombucha (which they had a stellar selection of!) and finished the meal off by eating 2 kinds of their chocolate. I thought the chocolate tasted grainy and not what I had in my head for what chocolate should taste like. Lesson learned though, and I'll get something else next time!

Me and my husband do a vegan fast every year for lent. It's kind of hard to find places to eat because in addition to vegan, we have to have organic and whole wheat/whole grain as well. This was the first restaurant I've been able to go in and order anything off the menu. You can essentially make any choice vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free which is awesome! They also use organic whole wheat Avalon Bread! I ordered the A.B.L.T which had avocado, shitakke mushrooms that tasted just like bacon, and a garlic aioli. It was probably one of the best BLT's I've ever had. I will definitely order that again even when I'm not fasting for lent. I also tasted some of the vegan desserts and my husband's reuben sandwich - also awesome!

The clean plate is very unique for metro Detroit for the vegan eater. Desserts were fabulous, as well as entrees. However, the only reason the clean plate does not get 5 stars from me is because we drove from out of town for our second visit at 6:30pm and it was CLOSED! It says they close at 9:00pm, so this was heart wrenching after a long drive full of delicious clean plate fantasies. You must try the avocado pudding and peanut butter pie!

This restaurant was a trip. The ownership has made a real investment in making a vegetarian restaurant accessible to the notoriously franchise-loving folk of the Hall road corridor. I really hope the restaurant does well - It's Totally unique, but rough around the edges. I think the ownership is going through the "Just joined BNI" phase of small business ownership where building word of mouth and networking is important to them. I found dozens of business cards all over the restaurant from a variety of local merchants. It made for interesting reading while waiting for the service. I found that 2 person tables along the Northern glass wall of the restaurant didn't get a lot of attention while others got a lot more. I ordered the quesadilla, which was served in a tortilla, and about 5 morning farms patties worth of a black bean meatlike substance and vegan cheese. The entree was also served with a comically small ounce of salsa and about 9 chips. No effort was made to offer me anything beyond water (tap, no ice) and the layout of the restaurant has me confused about the expected ordering pattern that a patron should experience. Is it a sit down restaurant or a order-then-deliver-to-table restaurant or somewhere in between? I'm confused. My entree was equally confusing. Overall I found the food was OK but the portion sizes seemed a bit off on the dish. There was far too much faux-meat in my food, far too little veggie toppings, salsa, chips and other ingredients to make the dish. At a $14 price point for the entree I felt that I paid a pretty high price for the food I got. My impressions of the other entrees I saw other patrons eat gave me the same impression. I imagine this means that food costs are high and this is reflected in the restaurants price points. On the other hand, I imagine consuming a large amount of produce in the dead of winter is expensive for the restaurant. I found the faux meat to be really bland and didn't have any of the rich flavors of salsa or picante I was expecting. In all honesty, this food is more boring than a Mary Kay convention for husbands: you sort of feel left out from the in crowd and just taking up space. I also found the entryway of the restaurant did a very poor job of keeping restaurant patrons comfortable in the storefront in really cold weather. The chi here simply doesn't work. I think overall the concept is unique and the restaurant has a lot to offer. On the other hand the food costs and portions are too odd to put this into my monthly or weekly rotation. I'd propose that this restaurant might want to re-consider it's seating arrangement, refine its price points of dishes and work on its value proposition. I know a lot of people worked hard on this and want it to succeed, but I hope it will mature and get better.

Finally a vegetarian place nearby! Prices are decent and food is amazing! My mother is vegan and to find somewhere to eat for her nearby without having to dissect the menu is amazing, and I enjoy the food too even though I'm a greasy, fried, meat lover lol!

This place is perfect! Soups and salads are amazing, the Reuben is delicious, and the BLAT is yummy. Desserts are a little pricey for what you get, but this place is a much-needed healthy, fresh-food oasis in a desert of fast-food joints, corporate restaurants, and coneys.

A new gem for Hall Road! Excellent, lovingly prepared vegetarian food. The Clean Plates' DELICIOUS food caters to the more flexible or newly minted vegetarian palate. Perfect for people interested in transitioning to vegetarianism, gluten-free fans, and raw organic foodies! The Clean Plate features Cacao Tree's mouth watering raw desserts, cooked vegetarian soups, organic salads, noodles, sandwiches, and organic smoothies! What more could you ask for?

YUM! If you are looking to eat healthier or limit your meat intake, definitely give The Clean Plate a try! They have a nice menu with a variety of options to choose from and everything I have had so far was great! I even went two days in a row! The first day I ordered was the Reuben sandwich (Avalon bread topped with tempeh, cheese, sauerkraut, 1000 island dressing, stone ground mustard) with Cole slaw and a pickle. Everything was so tasty! I will admit, I would not say it tasted just like a corned beef Reuben, but it didn't matter because the sandwich was so tasty and flavorful! I also really liked the Cole slaw which was red cabbage and carrots. It was crunchy, creamy and so fresh tasting. The second day I ordered the arugula salad (arugula topped with chevre or garlic walnuts, white navy beans, artichoke hearts, cucumber, roasted beets, caramelized onion) with their maple balsamic dressing which was fantastic! I also had a slice of their coconut cream pie, which was so good! While the prices are a little high for the quantity of food, you need to realize you are paying for quality, healthy, organic food.

For a vegetarian restaurant this one is excellent. The food was great and my whole party enjoyed their meals. It wasn't cheap but was well worth the cost. The smoothie was also great.

I have been to the Clean Plate several times. Never let down that's for sure! Clean, Friendly, Fresh vegan / vegetarian food. The atmosphere is somewhat sandwich shop, not that warm comfort place but the food makes up for it on so many levels. If you have any special request (food allergy or Plant Based "no oil") they will work with your request. Somewhat on the higher price but again, it's well worth it to know your getting fresh healthy food with a smile. My daughter were also very impressed and loved the soup!!

I absolutely love this place!!! This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. My husband reluctantly went with me, as he is a carnivore. I will say this.... this place almost changed him! *chants* ONE OF US! ONE OF US! I got the sloppy joe, and he got the mushroom melt. Oh. My. Gosh. The sloppy joe was a mixture of beans and magic that was formed to sloppy joe consistency, and served on a bun. The amount of flavor that was in this sandwich was nothing like I have ever had at a restaurant! Usually vegetarian dishes are bland when you eat out. You have to get a dish minus meat, and most places rely on the meat for the flavor. Not this place! Delicious. My husband's mushroom melt was not only delicious, but very filling as well! He freaked out over how absolutely amazing it was! Needless to say, we are fans! I highly recommend going here!

Ate here for the first time today, I'm not a vegetarian but I was curious. I tried a tempeh burger and it was a pretty solid choice. Not sure how often I'll eat here since I do like beef that much, but it's definitely worth giving a chance to if you want to go veggie for a day or two.

This is my GO TO FAVORITE!! I eat food from the clean plate probably 3 times per week and my sons get smoothies here at least 3 or 4 times a week. I am not vegetarian or vegan but the food is amazingly fresh, organic and ALL handmade!! The raw desserts are AMAZING and the owner staff genuinely care about giving people truly healthy food AND EDUCATING! They are always happy to share how to make something.

Surprised to find a place like Clean Plate by my work! There are many chains and non-casual spots to eat at in the area, so it's a refreshing change. I absolutely agree with all of the good things said about Clean Plate: fresh, local, organic, creative food, with most dishes customizable for whether you prefer dairy, vegan, and/or gluten-free. Kombucha is $3.25, a little cheaper than Nutri Foods (where I shop for it near my house). Unfortunately, I can't justify the price to eat here as often as I'd like. I have an average appetite and get set back about $15 for lunch - and that's if I don't buy a drink. The food is worth its price, just maybe not very college student friendly! Portions are small. If you're looking for casual, affordable food on a budget in the area, I recommend BetterHealth's cafe - plenty of vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free options there, and more affordably priced for the portion size.

I've been here a few times in the last couple of months and I've enjoyed it each time. I had the BLT (mushrooms instead of bacon ) and it was really good. The garlic aioli they make is fantastic! I had a smoothie on my next visit and again, it was very fresh and tasted great. The staff is super friendly and are knowledgable and passionate about what they are doing.

Seriously this place deserves every star! The customer service is beyond friendly. And the food is on another level. I had a Tempeh Burger "which was recommended by the worker" and it was freaking phenomenal!! Seriously guys wtf this place is 10 star in my book. I'm for sure coming to this place more often being that I live around the corner!!

I eat out often not by choice but necessity due to a busy lifestyle. At home, I can prepare foods that actually make me feel good and give me sustained energy. Fortunately The Clean Plate came into existence. They serve nutrient dense foods that taste fantastic. I had the sloppy joe, arugula salad, and a mushroom melt. If you're a big eater like me plan on dropping about $30 bucks. However the quality of ingredients exists to merit such costs. The staff is friendly and has that perfect skin vegan thing going on--glowing white eyeballs and such. The Kombucha tea is competitively priced and they even stock a sour kraut I've normally had to drive down to Eastern Market to buy. Great post workout nutrition to shorten muscle recovery time.

I am obsessed with the Clean Plate. There are tons of vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free, dairy-free options, it's conveniently located, open late, and everything I've tried is delicious. The "ABLT" is hands down my favorite item on the menu... Avalon bread (the gluten-free bread is easily the best gf I've had anywhere) topped with avocado, shiitake mushroom "bacon", lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli. My mom and grandma who are NOT vegetarian or gluten-free ordered this and have been requesting to go back and get it again. It's something I crave once a week or more and I even like the coleslaw it comes with (coming from someone who doesn't like coleslaw this is a big deal). Other items I've tried: broccoli soup (very good), kale soup (also very good), bbq sandwich (the tofu was good with the extra honey mustard dressing), grecian wrap (very healthy tasting although I think the sandwiches/bread are better, personally), garden melt (kind of like a pizza, tasty but more difficult to eat because it is "open face"). DESSERTS are one of the best things about this place, even if they are little pricey they are well worth it. I have made it my goal to taste each one and thus far my favorite is the "coconut cream pie" which is so creamy but the chocolates are good (albeit rich) too. I can't say enough nice things about this place, I get vegetarian/gf stuff everywhere I go and The Clean Plate ranks as the best gf bread, tofu, and desserts I've had anywhere in SE Michigan. They always seem busy so I hope it stays around forever.

I recently became vegan and have been trying out all the vegan/veg spots in the metro Detroit area. I added this place on my list after I found out it's ran by the same people at the Cacao Tree Cafe. After visiting twice, this place is my favorite vegan/veg place to go. On my first visit I got the pesto melt. It was noted on the menu that the melts take longer to prepare, but I didn't think the wait time was long at all. The melt was amazing and ravished my tastebuds. My omnivore companion had a mushroom burger and couldn't stop raving about the garlic aioli that came with it. We were both fully satisfied with our meals. The second time I came was just as satisfying and tasteful as my first visit. I got the A.B.L.T with a cup of the lentil soup. The mushroom "bacon" teased my tastebuds and the garlic aioli coated my tongue in garlic bliss. There was something yummy about that lentil soup that I couldn't put my spoon down. The staff was very friendly and had a contagious peppy energy that made me smile each time they came to my table. This place is a bit of a hike for me, but I'm already planning my next visit. This place is phenomenal for vegans, vegetarians or just anyone in general who consumes food and wants something delicious.

I'm not a vegan, but my roommate is always bringing home some pretty awesome stuff from here. The lemon bars are incredible. The salads and mushroom melts are mouthwatering. I thought the wraps were kind of ehhh, but it's hard to value a wrap being worth more than $6 for me when there isn't any meat. If you're a vegan, this place has to be heaven. All my vegan friends talk about this place and Cacao Tree as their holy grail. It's hell if you have nut allergies though, as I haven't seen a single desert served without them.

Worth every penny. The best shiitake BLT and avocado pudding ever. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant is always very clean. This is one of the only vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Macomb County, so if you're looking for a healthier option then it's definitely worth checking out.

Just ordered a cup of soup and the tempeh burger (added avocado and chipotle aioli) and OMG THIS IS SO GOOOOOD!!!! If you haven't tried this place yet, do it now before everyone finds out and there are crazy long lines.

This place is a gem. Really enjoyed my lunch. I ordered the mushroom melt to go. Very tasty. A little hard to find in the complex but worth looking. So nice to have a healthy option close to home. I definitely will be back.

Hard to find. The sign is small. GPS will get u lost. It faces Hayes in the Hayes Center Shoppes, just south of the light (at Lakeside Blvd N) to enter the plaza. The corner spot nearest to Hayes. The farm hand salad is good. Just enough toppings and the shiitake bacon is a nice touch. Salads are $9. The the garlic free yellow split pea soup was good but not overly flavorful. $3.75 for 8oz. Both of them filled me up along with one of their organic & raw Synergy drinks, $3.45. The got the Trilogy flavor which has an interesting taste and isn't sweet. I asked for a drink that wasn't sweet. It's got a lot going on in it. I feel like I taste ginger. I won't get this one again but will try the sweet variety next time. I will definitely come back for the burgers (tempeh, portabello) and the open-face melts, which sound delicious. I will leave a pic of the menu for everyone. Hopefully the resolution comes through. We need more vegan/raw/locally sourced places like this so please support them :)

This place is the real deal. The soups are AWESOOMMMMEE! (Creamy red kale:)))I also tried the ablt (mushroom replaces bacon) I don't usually like mushrooms but this rocked! & the garlic aioli brought happiness to my Day!!

I had the mac and cheese from here. I wasn't much of a fan of it but ate it. I went home and had the after taste for 3 days. I had another women with me who couldn't eat the mac and cheese plate she ordered since she didn't like it either so they gave her a salad on the house which was very generous. It's indeed a cafe instead of a restaurant.

I am not a vegetarian, but since the reviews were so stellar I thought I would give this a try. Ordered a salad and a sandwich. Both were well prepared but bland and not exciting. I would not go back unless I had a vegan friend who needed to be taken out to dinner!

Excited to have a truly healthy option along Hall Rd. Great staff, menu and location. Perfect place for the gluten free vegetarian or clean eater in general. We got the gluten free Grecian Wrap and Black bean burrito. Both were large and tasty. No complaints. The kale salad was great and so was the black bean chili. Dessert was the vegan raspberry chocolate cheese cake...you never would have known it was vegan. We'll be going back, for sure. We are both GF and the old lady is vegetarian. This place is long overdue in this area.

the food was odd. i've been a vegetarian for eight years. i dabble in raw and vegan cuisine. i tried my food, obviously, but also my bf's. it wasn't exactly "delicious". i give this business major props just for existing. this area really needs a restaurant that serves raw/vegan/vegetarian food. maybe i need to try more of their menu? hopefully, everything else tastes better. i tried a bland macaroni and cheese and a sandwich. it was food, but like i said, it wasn't super tasty.

Finally somewhere healthy to eat in Macomb. Close to lifetime too! Put in order before workout, and have a healthy meal waiting after.

I have been to the cacao tree cafe as well and was really interested in trying the clean plate! It definitely didn't disappoint and had an even wider range of things to choose from. The garden melt is a must try!

If you are looking for a healthy & delicious place to eat, Clean Plate is it!! I have been looking for healthy places to eat in the area for awhile now. When i heard of Clean Plate & read the great reviews on Yelp, I was excited to try their food. My first time there, I went with 2 other friends who are health conscious as well. We walked in right as the place opened & the manager greeted us. I told her we'd never been there before & she welcomed us & explained the menu. She was extremely friendly & informative. I decided on the vegan mac & cheese with steamed broccoli & kombucha tea that had chia seeded added to it. I was hesitant because I was hungry & unsure if this meal would fill me up. Additionally, I was not sure how the mac & cheese would taste...THE MAC & CHEESE WAS DELICIOUS! I was pleasantly surprised. The kombucha tea filled me up as well, I could only drink half the bottle. I will defiantly be back at least once a week!!!! I am so glad that healthier options other than sub shops are opening up in Macomb County. The manager also said she has a juice bar in Royal Oak, I will defiantly try that place when I am out that way!!! GO TO CLEAN PLATE!!!!

Best vegetarian food this side of 8 Mile! The Southwest Chowder will warm you up on a cold winter day (trust me). The bean burrito is tasty! Casual, clean environment. Extremely quick service. A must if you're near Hall Road!

Saw the reviews and had to try.... Wow! Being GF is tough but I could eat here everyday. As soon as my wife and I walked in we knew it was going to be a great experience. Brandon and Amber are awesome and the food is first rate. Had the Veggie Open Faced Melt and the quality and freshness of the food was excellent. The GF cheesecake was a great way to end the meal. Do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant.

I'm not vegetarian in the least bit, but I stopped in here today and this place has me rethinking eating meat again. It smells insanely good as soon as you walk in, and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The owner was working and she is an absolute sweetheart who loves what she does. I had the ABLT, and holy crap, amazing. Those little 'shiitake bacon' were to die for. I totally recommend this for the die hard vegetarian, and those like me who are just curious.

AWESOME food! It is delicious. I wish I could afford to eat here every day. I would rather pay for quality food over going to the doctor any day of the week.

I've been vegetarian for 4 years and I'm excited there's a place like this so close to my house. I tried the BBQ seitan sandwich which was delicious. I never had seitan before today and now I love it. I also tried some of the chocolate, amazing! I will definitely be back soon.

Friendly staff, amazing food and even better desserts. My favorite is the avocado BLT, I don't know how they do it but I wish I could take the chefs home. Bravo Amber!!

I've tried a few things on the menu and everything was delicious. Loved the Grecian wrap! Also had a few pieces of chocolate with cacao made in store and it was amazing!

My fiancé and I are visiting from North Carolina and found this place by searching "organic" on Yelp since most of the lunch restaurants around are chains. The experience and food were phenomenal! I had the spinach salad with the creamy basil-garlic dressing and my fiancé had the southwestern salad. It was delicious!! We wish there was a place like this back at home - it's hard to find a really good and fresh salad. Would highly recommend!

So I've been there twice now and both times the food was spot on. Only reason why I am giving it four stars is because the food is a little overpriced in comparison to what you get at other vegetarian vegan restaurants. This is owned by the same owner of Cacao Tree in Royal Oak so some of the food items, like the delicious taco meat, is the same. Mushroom melt was absolutely delicious. My favorite thing so far was the burrito with the nut taco meat. Very filling and satisfying. This is what I would recommend for anyone bringing a carnivore to this restaurant. The TLT flavor was good, but not very filling. Better as a lunch choice. One thing that I wish is that they would have better dessert options. Since this is not a raw food only restaurant I wish they would make more desserts, most of the options are the same as the Cacao Tree. Have some better baked vegan desserts and lower the prices a tad and this would definitely be five stars.

Excellent food, staff and service!!! Lots of egg and dairy free options for my little one. We especially love the vegan desserts. Kudos!

Seriously delicious, whether you're veg or not. I had a melty, savory vegan tempeh reuben on the best gluten-free bread I've tasted (Avalon), and my non-veg friend raved about the ABLT with shiitake "bacon" and the sweet potato/black bean chowder while we shared a big bottle of locally made organic Mayan chai. It's sort of an "Inn Season North" (not surprisingly, since Amber managed Inn Season for several years before opening the also-awesome Cacao Tree then Clean Plate), because it's a bastion of healthy, really delicious, handcrafted, gourmet vegetarian cuisine in an area populated by every chain restaurant imaginable. Wish I was closer so I could eat here all the time. Kudos, Amber and team!

I'm so excited that I work literally a few feet away, because I have a feeling I will be eating here a LOT! Amber, Brandon and staff are super friendly, and the South African stew I ordered on my first visit was not only super tasty, but beautifully presented -- even in a carryout container! Can't wait to try their salads and wraps. A unique and welcome addition to the Shelby Township area.

Fast, friendly, healthy food! Everything we ate was delicious. Will definitely be back. Best part.. We couldn't be more satisfied (full) but we don't feel heavy and tired.. We actually have more energy than before going in! 5 stars

Finally a vegan/gluten free place in this area! I would always make the 45 minute trip to Cacao Tree or Inn Season (both great places) but excited to see the health conscious café around the block from my parent's home. And love that they serve the elegant raw desserts from Royal Oak's Cacao Tree. I've tried almost all of the desserts and the Mushroom Pie is heavenly...& medicinal! The Thai peanut wrap, Coconut curry soup, & BLT were really good as well. The owners/employees always remember us! Will be back whenever I'm in town visiting.

The food is FABULOUS!!!! So glad that I found this place. It is great to have a high quality healthy eating option. We tried the A.B.L.T which is their version of the BLT and I will be back to order it again! Also tried their MAC and 'Cheese' and the Spinach salad.... just delicious. High quality, nice atmosphere and will enjoy coming back to this restaurant often.

I am not a vegetarian so this turned out to be a a very pleasant surprise. The salad and mushroom burger were great but what was really unexpected was how good the deserts were. Wow! I expected to walk out unsatisfied but nothing could be further from the truth. The personal were so very accommodating I cant say enough about that. They are obviously just starting out and need to work out some kinks but the food is of good quality and well prepared. The lack of a 5 star review is about the atmosphere. Its a fast food atmosphere which is perfect for some. I will be back but it will be for take out.

Macomb County needed a vegan, vegetarian, gluten sensitive restaurant and now we have one. The food was excellent and the service appreciative of our business. The tempur burger was excellent. The lentil soup was great. The salad portions were ample. Lets support them and keep them sustainable for future healthy eating. :)

Finally! A healthy restaurant on the east side. Really good food. I love the fact you can get anything on the menu gluten free. They are very accommodating with any kind of food allergy you have. I also love their healthy desserts.
